Student success, Coach Bright, Trust Review and Parents’ Evening

I was really pleased to return to a letter from Plymouth Marjon University congratulating former student Martin Waite for his completing of his teacher training degree.  It is always great to read about former student successes and particularly Martin’s as he has now entered the teaching profession.

I have also been busy this week reviewing the school and its successes with representatives from the Ted Wragg Trust, who we are now formally working with.  On Wednesday the CEO Moria Marder, the director of performance Jon Lunn and I spent the day reviewing the school and taking stock of the huge improvements to the quality of teaching and behaviour around the school.  We also took time to think about our next steps on our improvement journey.

On Thursday, I met with Robin and William from Coach Bright (http://www.coachbright.org/) who we are now going to be working with.  Coach Bright places top quality students from university into schools and coaches and teaches students on a one to one basis with extra tuition in Maths, English and Science.  We will be shortly opening this up to year 11 to see who wants to take up this free opportunity. It will also give students the chance to find out about university.  Finally, I was

delighted to see and meet so many year 7 parents and carers on parents’ evening.  This was a great way to start to work in partnership.

My very best wishes,
