Over the past week we have hosted various parents’ evenings. I didn’t write about this last week, but we had our Year 8 Electives’ evening on 5 March. The Electives’ Evening was all about Year 8 students thinking about the future as they are approaching a critical point in their education. This is because they are going to decide which options subjects to study at examination level during Key Stage 4, during years 10 and 11. The idea of ‘Electives’ is to give a taste of what choosing options subjects is like. The evening was well attended by parents and students and now the Year 8s have the difficult decision of choosing what they will study next year.
We also had our Year 9 and 10 parents’ evening on Wednesday. It was good to see parents, students and teachers talking about next steps for learning. Just a reminder that the Year 7 and 8 parents’ evening is on 10 June and information will be shared next term regarding this.
Mr Gibbons and Mrs Harmer have been busy setting up a new Dance club in school. They have secured the expertise of the Exim Dance Company, who will be beginning an after-school club starting on Tuesday 17th March. The sessions will run from 3:10pm-4:10pm and is open to all students. The club will last for five weeks, so please don’t miss out. If you have any questions, please ask Mr Gibbons or your PE teacher.
Finally, we have had a busy PSHE drop down day today. Students have been learning about healthy living, stress, finance management, anger management, positive relationships, anti-racism, cancer awareness and CVs, to name but a few.
Until next week,
