Governance

Our Senior Leadership, staff and governing body have a sharp focus on student outcomes and a programme of continual improvement.

They work closely together as a team to ensure all lessons challenge pupils and deliver pace and rigour and will positively impact children’s learning and progress.  An external task force also works alongside the team to ensure accountability and provide professional support.  It includes representatives of the Diocese of Exeter, Plymouth Teaching School Alliance, and the Ted Wragg Educational Trust.

As School Governors, we want to make a positive contribution to children’s education. Governors are one of the largest volunteer forces in the country and have an important part to play in raising school standards. School Governors provide strategic leadership and accountability in schools. They appoint the head teacher and deputy head teacher and hold the main responsibility for finance in schools. Governors work with the Headteacher to make decisions and balance resources. Each individual Governor is a part of the Governing Board. They do not act independently of the rest of the Governing Body, as decisions are the joint responsibility of the Governing Board. Governors set the aims and objectives for the school. They monitor and evaluate the progress the school is making towards the achievement of its aims and objectives. The Headteacher is responsible for the internal organisation, management and control of the school and the implementation of the strategic framework established by the Governing Body.

    Statement
I was born in Plymouth and lived here until leaving for University. After living away for a number of years in Southampton, Brussels and London, my passion for Plymouth prompted a move home in July 2015.

I bring the experience of being a Governor in a large primary school in Central London for six years, servings as Chair for four years. Having moved back to Plymouth, I was keen to get involved with another local school and am delighted to be able to serve as a Governor at All Saints Academy.

When I’m not working for two local MPs, I love finding the best local coffee shops, showing Plymouth off to visiting friends, and watching Formula 1. I am also a member and serve as Church Warden at St Matthias Plymouth, a growing church in the city centre.

    Statement
I was thoroughly excited when, in 2017, I was invited to be a Governor, and to play what I see as a significant part in the influencing and forming of our childrens’ futures. I have three boys, one who has already left the academy and is currently going through the recruitment process of joining the Royal Navy, one in year 8, and one in year 6 awaiting his place at All Saints. I chose this school for its values and policies on faith, inclusion, and dicipline, a choice that has shown itself to be a sound one more than once.

I was born and raised in Oslo, Norway, but moved to the UK in 1999 after meeting the man who is now my husband. I have long been harbouring a not-so-secret passion for the English language, and I’m currently working as a freelance editor and proofreader, working mainly with historical fiction (my absolute favourite genre). I have had many different jobs in my lifetime, including two years of Primary School governance, and I must say that being a Governor has to be one of the best! I am extremely enthusiastic about learning, and wish , as a Governor, to use the skills I have to ensure that all the pupils who attend All Saints feel fulfilled, safe, and also have that sense of respect and inclusiveness based on the same strong Christian values that made me choose this particular school for my own children.
