New Year 11s, Chromebooks, Sparx and More!

We have already completed the first full week back and it is hard to remember that we had a 6 week break.  Students haven been brilliant this week getting back to their studies and remembering our main mantra of work hard, be kind.  Yesterday I spoke to the new Year 11 students on their year ahead and how important their final school experience is going to be.  My key message was that, although sometimes the challenges of GCSEs can seem overwhelming, perseverance and asking for help are part of the recipe for success.

I have been really impressed visiting lessons this week and it has been great to see our new Chromebook laptops being used in maths, with students, using our Sparx programme. Thank you to Sparx and the Ted Wragg Trust for providing us with this new technology which is helping students make exceptional progress in learning maths.

On Wednesday afternoon we started our first staff training session of the year.  This was time spent on how to meet the needs of all of our students in the classroom and sharing good practice in this area.  Thank you to the parents and students for understanding how important this is and being flexible with the timings of the school day in order to now give us this valuable time.

Next week is a busy week with Open Morning on Monday.  Our prefects and other students have been preparing for tours for our prospective new class of 2025 and their families.  On Thursday next week we are also hosting the Year 7 meet the tutor afternoon, from 3.30pm-4.30pm, for new year 7 parents to come in and find out how their child is settling in.  We look forward to seeing you then.

Until next week.
