Our Trust of Schools

Attendance & Absences

Attendance

We actively promote and encourage 100% attendance for all students.  However, we recognise that some students need further support to achieve our target of 96+% attendance – please talk to our Attendance Team, Pastoral staff or Attendance Engagement Officer if you need to.

Remember:

Note: Missing just 6 days per term will put you at 90% or below…..

Appointments During the School Day:

Please try to avoid booking appointments during the school day wherever you can.  We know this is not always possible, but students should aim to come to school before and/or after appointments whenever they can.  Registration is at 8.40am and 1.10pm daily.

Medical Absence:

Please try and treat low level illness such as coughs and colds with over-the-counter medication if necessary.  We will contact you if we think your child is not well enough to remain in school.  If it is helpful, we can administer any medication. You will just need to complete a medication form at Reception.

Holidays:

Holidays will not be permitted in term-time.  If you would like to request time off in exceptional circumstances, please complete a Plymouth City Council Absence Request Form. Requests will only be granted in exceptional circumstances.  If leave is not permitted, a penalty notice may be issued by Plymouth City Council. You can find further information on their website here, including their Penalty Notice Code of Conduct.

Absence Request Form.

Reporting your child as absent on a daily basis:

We require parents/carers to contact the school on each and every day of absence. You can do this:

By phone: Please call the school on 01752 705131 and press Option 1, by 8.00am. Please state your child’s full name, year group and reason for absence.

By email: [email protected] - you will receive an automatic reply, and we will contact you if we need to.

By form: Click here to complete a short form regarding absence.

If we are not notified by you, you may receive a text, phone call or home visit from us, to help ensure the safeguarding and well-being of all students.
